Twenty years ago, we swapped the desert sands of Dubai for the green hills of Mid Wales — with two toddlers under three, our golden retriever Tetley, and a dream of running our own business.
We had never run a caravan park. Daisy Bank was an established adults‑only park with three areas developed for touring caravans and one facilities block. The adults‑only concept was completely new to us — and with two small children, we weren’t really sure if it was right for us. However, we quickly realised the benefits! Our guests have always (well, nearly always) been lovely and respectful of both the park and our home, and over the years we have created a peaceful space where we hope people can come to truly relax and unwind away from the pace of the modern world.
We’ve done our bit to expand the park. In 2006, Kerry was just a field with sheep — but we saw potential: a place where people could relax, reconnect, and enjoy the beauty of the Welsh borders. Bit by bit, we built Kerry from the ground up: 28 serviced pitches, a new toilet block, landscaped gardens, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere that guests now call their home away from home.
As Daisy Bank grew, so did our vision. We developed Roundton into the lodge park. We now have holiday lodges with owners who, in many cases, first arrived with their caravan or motorhome and then decided to buy lodges as they opted for greater space and comfort. We now also have 3 lodges and 6 camping pods we rent out for short breaks throughout the year.
It’s not all been plain sailing! Not everything has worked for us – we’ve tried renting out touring caravans, we’ve rented out motorhomes and we had a short foray into catering with the Daisy Diner – but as they say you don’t know until you try!
From those early days of learning and laughter to today’s thriving parks, every step has been a labour of love. Daisy Bank isn’t just a business — it’s our family story, built on hard work, community, and the joy of seeing guests return year after year.
Our two eldest children have grown up and left home. A new addition arrived in 2013 and has always called Daisy Bank home. Tetley has long since chased his last tennis ball, but he has been followed by the unforgettable Archie — and now by the latest of Daisy Bank’s “Top Dogs,” Bluey and Bea.
Here’s to 20 years of Daisy Bank — and thank you to everyone who’s been part of the journey so far. Nicky and Mark xx
